Quarterfinals Recap: The more things change...

The Quarterfinals saw the top four teams from the regular season make the semifinals for the second-consecutive season and for the third time in the last four as Fort Worth (13-0), Florida (11-2), Alamo City (11-2) and Baltimore (10-3) rolled. Here's what stood out, historically, as eight became four in Season 21.

• Charleston punter Eric Blueberry became the first punter in league history to throw a pass in the postseason and was the first to ever play starting quarterback in emergency, after Charleston lost starting quarterback John Lakeman and then a designated backup QB on back-to-back plays. Blueberry in a valiant effort finished 7-for-16 for 78 yards and an interception. Fort Worth won a second playoff game in a season for the first time in franchise history.
• Florida topped San Diego 38-17. Quarterback Ron Cockren, who led the league in completion percentage this season (71.1%), went 12-of-13 passing in the game - the fourth time this season Cockren has completed at least 80% of his passes. Before Season 21, Cockren was third all-time in league history (min. 3,000 attempts) in completion percentage (72.8%).
• Alamo City held on to beat Canton 33-28. It's the first time two teams from the same division (Alamo City and Fort Worth) will make the Quarterfinals since the league went to four-team divisions in Season 19. At least one team from the current South Division has made the semifinals every season Since 17.
• Baltimore took out Arizona 48-21, ending the Scorpions season for the third-consecutive campaign. Amazingly, it's not the first time a team has lost to the same squad in the postseason three-straight seasons and it's not the first time it happened the exact same way. The Alaska (now Florida) Storm beat the Tallahassee Pride (now Jacksonville Kings) in both the Season 10 and 11 Championship and then topped the Pride in the Season 12 Quarterfinals.
