SFL Power Rankings: And Then There Was One
We enter Week 7 with Byes galore and two new teams in the top 5! But this week we also see 4 of those teams duking it out to make a midseason statement of intent to stay on top and hopefully roll into a top 4 spot when all is said and done. Washington stands alone as the only undefeated team left; do they have enough to stay there?
voting breakdown
As we approach midseason the rankings will start to condense and we’re already starting to see it now this week. A few teams have had early byes and have only played 4 of 6 possible games and as such there’s still some movement that can happen as the rankings begin to settle. The jury is still out on Denver at 4-2 with rankings as high as #3 and as low as #18. Baltimore has quietly entered the top 3 over a few weeks after a rocky start and could see some top votes next week depending on how the matchup up top goes. Let us know what other trends your seeing in the discord or over in the streets!
sting or stung?
#14 Arizona Scorpions (2-2)
Two early byes for Arizona haven’t helped to define the season so far but as it stands a 2-2 record, 0-2 in the division and Washington/Vancouver running away with the West is not where they saw themselves entering Week 7. The offense is just as stacked as it was last season but the output is just not the same at 19.25 ppg vs ~24 ppg last season. The defense is just as good as ever under the prowess of Gauge(14.75 ppg) but the turnover differential will continue to bite them down the stretch against the more elite teams if the secondary continues to struggle to get turnovers. These next 3 weeks before their final bye should start to give us a true idea of how dangerous this team could be and it all starts tomorrow at Carolina who is fresh off a big win against a Florida Storm team we talked about last week. Will Scorpions begin to find their stinger or get stung in Season 24?
week 7 premier matchup
#1 Washington Trident @ #2 Vancouver Legion(-2.5) | O/U 43.5 | FEB. 14th 10:30 PM EST
I was hoping to see two undefeated fighting to stay clean but this is will still do after the Legion lost a close one at home to Sin City for their first loss and now look to avenge their loss by sullying the Trident’s record as well. Although, if you ask me, this is Washington’s game to lose. The Legion have looked very good against the cellar dwellers of Season 24 and then they play and lose to a Samurai squad who had some early growing pains but are still a very dangerous squad despite the ownership changes and relocation. Washington has played three top squads and a surprising Denver squad and won them all and looks to be serious contenders once playoffs roll around. Vancouver are slight favorites coming into this one being at home but I’d say the smart money is taking Washington +2.5 and I’m probably taking the under here. Washington 24-16.
